B'reshyt- In the Beginning
(Isa 46:10) I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done. I say: My counsel will stand, and I will do all that I please.
So if God declares the end from the beginning, we need to go back to the beginning if we want to understand the end.
Going back to the beginning and studying the beginning is called Archaeology
*The first two words in Genesis -if written in Greek are ‘en arche’. or “in the beginning”- Archaeology. Archaeology is the study of beginnings.
If we can go back to the beginning, we can show people our origins- scientifically. Not to prove that the Bible is true, we already know that!
We can also do Archaeology this with the Scriptures. The Old testament was written in Hebrew not Greek
“B'reshit” is the Hebrew word for “In the Beginning”. Hebrew is a picture language. Hebrew words have meaning embedded in the. By reviewing the meanings of each letter, God provides you with a picture of what that word means. Therefore regardless of years of change, the meaning of the words will not change because the meaning is embedded in each letter that makes up a word.
The Hebrew word “ABBA” means Father. What is the meaning of the word Father? Sometimes words change meanings over the years. The word “Gay” has changed meanings 4 times over my life The letters that make up the word Abba are the Aleph and the Bet in Hebrew.
The picture meaning of the Aleph= Ox or strength. The picture meaning for Bet= House, or home. Therefore, the Father or Abba means strength of the house.
Now the first word in the Bible is the word is B'reshit in Hebrew and it means “in the beginning”. Reading right to left it is made up of these Hebrew letters:
Hebrew letter= tov yod shin alef resh bet
The meaning of each of these Hebrew letters are:
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house
God has revealed the end out of the beginning. -Let us go back to the beginning! Let me show you what God has revealed to us in just the first word of the Hebrew Scriptures.
The first word of the Bible shows the entire plan of redemption. Why does the first word of the Bible begin with the second letter of the Alef Bet?
Why doesn’t it begin with the first? The first letter of the Bible begins with the letter Bet. Bet means House. God wants to establish his house.
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house SON
If you take the first and the second letter of the Bible (Bet and Resh) form the word SON (Bar) The letter Resh means Head. Head never meant authority it meant origin or beginning as the beginning of a stream or beginning of mankind. The son is the one that will build the house and he was the origin, the beginning or head of the house.
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house CREATE
The next letter added (Bet, Resh and Alef) form the word Be’ra which means to create. The Alef is the first letter of the Hebrew Alef Bet and it holds a meaning of strength. The son, who is the strength and the creator will build this house.
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house FIRSTFRUITS (FIRST)
The last five letters (Resh, alef, shin, yod, tov ) form the word Resheet which means first in order specifically Firstfruits. It is the son, who is the strength, which will create and build this house as the Firstfruits of the dead
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house FIRE
In the middle is Alef and shin which means ash or fire. The first born son is a consuming fire.
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house EL SHADDAI
The letter shin stands for almighty - Shaddai. The symbol for the word is destroyer, not destroyer as in evil, but as in a most powerful warrior; more specifically it means the destroyer of the door or gate, like the door of a city. In ancient times, the most powerful king was the one that you could not stop at your gates, he would break through them. In this his it to the next level, where this king doesn’t just break open your city door, He destroys it. He is most powerful; he is The Almighty. El Shaddai. This symbol is the symbol that most Hebrew/Jewish people have on the Mezuzahs that are on their doorpost or gates.
So the first born son, who is the consuming fire, the creator, the almighty, is building a house
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign hand, destroyer, strength, head, house R HAND
Just to the right of the almighty as He faces us, is the right hand of God. This son, who is the consuming fire, the creator of the house, He sits at the right hand of the almighty.
Tov yod shin Alef resh bet sign, hand, destroyer, strength, head, house
Then you will note the Alef and Tov . The Alef is the first letter of the Hebrew Alef Bet and the Tov is the last letter of the Alef Bet. This Aleph Tov many times refers to Jesus because this is one of His names. The first and the last or beginning and end.
(Rev 22:13) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
The aleph and Tov is used throughout Scripture and it is a Hebrew word that is rarely translated. Many times it refers to Jesus but some times it is used for a direct object marker. Kind of an English marker to show what the subject is. However many times, it is not needed and the Scribes and Sages would question why it was even used. Those are the times where we see that is is there to point us to Jesus. Let me give you an example
(Gen 1:1) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
(Gen 1:1) בראשׁיתH7225בראH1254אלהיםH430אתH853השׁמיםH8064ואתH853הארץ׃H776
Create = baw raw בָּרָא
God = Eloheem אֱלֹהִים
ET (Aleph and Tov) = not translated אֵת
Sky = Shaw-mah yim הַשָּׁמַיִם
Earth= Eh rets וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ
There are 6 words in the first sentence but only 5 are translated. Notice The aleph and Tov was not translated. The sound it makes is 'ET'. The Scribes and Sages Questioned this because it was obvious that the object was God. And this “Et” or aleph Tov was first and last letter of the Hebrew alphabet and it sat next to God and was on His right hand (facing us) but they didn't know what it was and said that when the Messiah Comes, He will reveal it to us.
Jesus came as the Messiah. He speaks to John on the isle of Patmos and Says:
(Rev 1:8) “I am the Alpha and the Omega, ” says the Lord God,“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation was written in Greek so the first letter of Greek alphabet was alpha and the last letter of the Greek alphabet is Omega. However, this was Jesus speaking to John on the Isle of Patmos. This was a Hebrew Jewish Messiah speaking to a Hebrew/Jewish disciple. What language do you think they spoke? Could it be that Jesus said
Rev 1:8 “I am the Aleph and Tov” says the Lord God “Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (BTW the word almighty is the word El Shadai- destroyer of the door”
This hit John so clearly because he studies scripture and knew what the sages said about the Aleph tov and how the Messiah would reveal what it meant when he comes. In addition, He knew the Hebrew Scriptures where the only time the Aleph Tov is translated into a word is in Isaiah. They translated it as “me”. God is talking and he translated the Alph Tov as “me!
(Zec 12:10) And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me (H853)whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
This does not change what you already know it just deepens your love for God.
Now back to B'reshit- In the Begining. So when we put this all together, we see that:
God has purposed to build His house. The son of God will build the house. He is the strength, origin, beginning and Creator. He is a consuming fire and the Firstfruits of the dead. He is seated at the right hand of God and he is the first and the last the Aleph and Tov. He is the strength and origin of the covenant. And he is The Almighty- El Shadai
This is just the first word. Imagine if you were to review the second word, the third word or even a chapter or book in the ancient language.
God has revealed Jesus to us out of the very beginning. And John, when he wrote his book, Saw all of this because he spoke Hebrew and knew everything the sages said about the Messiah. So John wrote his book taking us right back to the beginning. He wrote :
*(John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, -What word? (The Aleph Tov?) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
**(Isa 46:10) Revealing the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
If God reveals the end out of the beginning then we need to be looking and studying the beginning! Amen?
